· once its started up, turn your key again and see if its the same noise you are experiencing, dont keep doing this though!!! it will break the starter. mine went away after a few starts but ive been told to lightly tap the starter with a hammer or similar. hope it helps. Save.
· Its developed a grinding noise on start up which only lasts a second then never occurs again. The car drives fine. Ive read its the starter motor in need of regreasing but dont know where the starter motor is or indeed how to do the job, im scared of damaging it if i start taking it apart. Any help is really appreciated.
· Once the motor is started there is a second amount of time it takes for the oil to get from the pan back up to the chain tensioners and build pressure, thus the "grinding" noise is the chain riding on the timing chain guides (not damaging) until the pressure builds up .
· If the noise is coming from the hard drive, make sure your work is backed up because it may be starting to fail. It may be possible to free up a fan with a tiny drop of oil (but don't use WD40).
· I do however have this Gargeling type noise that seems to be in the rear area that when i first start the car up and let it idle for a few minutes to let it slightly warm up. then i put it in gear and slowly move forward, i get this loud gargeling type noise like water or something swooshing around. doesnt do it all the time tho. but often enough to be noticable.

· I just bought the computer in February, so I guess it really shouldn't be on its last legs. As soon as it starts up, there's this grinding noise that i hear close to the top of the PC, and then it gets a little worse but then stops suddenly after around 2 minutes.
· The noise ceases after the get "warm". A noisy fan is annoying – but as long as it produces noise, at least you know it is running : ) My theory is that a small gap develops in the fan's bearing because of wear. When the fan gets warm and materials expand the gap closes and the noise disappears. You can start up the PC with the side open.
